Ion Exchange and Adsorption Systems
Kurita America offers ion exchange and adsorption systems for a variety of applications with options for standard and customized configurations depending on your specific needs. Systems can be factory skid-mounted or delivered loose for installation on-site with options for fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) or steel vessel construction. Regenerable ion exchange applications include fully automated regenerant delivery systems with bulk salt storage.
Kurita’s ion exchange and adsorption systems are often utilized for the following applications:
- Condensate polishing
- Deionization
- Softening
- Municipal Drinking Water Treatment
Ion exchange and adsorption is often used to remove the following contaminants from water sources:
- Trace ion polishing (cation and/or anion deionization)
- Heavy metals
- Total hardness
- Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
- Total or dissolved organic carbon (TOC/DOC)
- Color
- Taste and odor
- Radium
- Uranium
- Standard or customized design
- Skid mounted or field construction
- Steel or FRP vessel construction
- Parallel or series configuration
- Fully automated service and regeneration modes
- Variety of resins, granular activated carbon, and specialty media available
Ion exchange and adsorption systems are best applied as polishing processes for water with low concentrations of suspended solids. In addition, constituents — like iron and manganese — can cause fouling or interfere with adsorption mechanisms and affect treated water quality and media life. Pre-treatment, like media filtration, should be considered for water profiles with known interferants.
Kurita can draw from a comprehensive portfolio of equipment products to integrate a robust solution for any application. Contact us to discuss options tailored to your unique water quality and treatment needs.
