Ethanol Final Filter
A Unique Solution to a Complex Problem
Kurita America's Ethanol Final Filter is an innovative solution for the ethanol industry, designed to improve final fuel quality. This bolt-on, integrated chemical and mechanical solution is unique to the biofuels industry, improving ethanol quality through the removal of both existent and potential sulfate. In addition to sulfate removal, the Ethanol Final Filter can be used as a mobile unit to assist with off-spec ethanol situations, or as a permanent unit, offering a cost-effective solution without any up-front capital costs. The Ethanol Final Filter Advantage
Sulfate impacts to manufacturing plants can cost over $1 million per event if a unit train is rejected. Some sulfur is apparent at the time of manufacture, called existent sulfate. During storage or shipment, other emergent sulfur can manifest through oxidation, contributing to potential sulfate which can cause a product that initially met existent sulfate specification levels to exceed the maximum permissible level at time of delivery. The Ethanol Final Filter is designed to remove both existent and potential sulfate to improve final ethanol quality.
In addition to removing both existing and potential sulfate, the Ethanol Final Filter significantly reduces the level of all acidic contaminants in 200 proof ethanol including; carbonic acid, sulfurous acid, sulfuric acid, acetic acid and other fermentation-generated acids. Issues regarding color, turbidity, pHe, chloride and iron are also addressed to ensure a consistent product quality. All of the listed contaminants can be regenerated out of the system with high efficiency.
Kurita America offers a leasing option (a Risk Management Agreement) for the Ethanol Final Filter, saving our customers chemical or service charges and waste fees.
The Ethanol Final Filter can be used by producers as a permanent solution to enable compliance with their quality assurance program, or as a mobile unit that can be deployed to bring off-spec ethanol back in alignment with prevailing fuel standards.
